Brad Underwood

Brad Underwood graduated from Baylor University in 2008 with B.A.s in History and International Studies. He then studied theology at Duke Divinity School at Duke University, where he graduated with a Masters of Theological Studies in 2014. An ordained Baptist minister, he worked in church and para-church ministry for the following six years, before being accepted to Northwestern’s PhD program in Slavic Languages and Literature in 2020. Brad explores the intersection of theology, philosophy, and literature. His particular interests include personalist philosophy, antinomy, holy fools, and questions surrounding theological anthropology and theological aesthetics in the Russian literary canon.
